Going into Senior High? Then you might want to consider moving into Cebu.
At long last, the integration of Video Games and Academics has finally arrived here in the Philippines as an exciting news for Gamers and Esports enthusiasts arrives via the University of the Visayas New School or UVNS as they plan to incorporate the Esports title, Dota 2, into on of their Senior High Academic Tracks, more specifically, Game Design which is under the Arts and Design category.
According to the report by SunStar Weekend, Genesis Raña, founder and school director of UVNS states that they will be utilizing the Esports title, Dota 2, as part of the curriculum, incorporating the aspect of game strategy, game design, game development, and as well as 2D and 3D animations. The course also seems to be designed in such a way that, other than being Game developers or designers, students can also become full fledged Esports pros should they take that path in the near future.
“We’ll have game strategy for Dota 2 and we will have game design and development animation and 2D and 3D animation, and of course, game creation. After two years, the students can either choose to be game creators, designers, or e-sports players in the professional league.”
In order to fulfill its aim of developing the next generation of video game creators, the UVNS readies its facilities by acquiring tools such as the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2, which will be used to understand and master the next frontier in video games that is Virtual Reality, the UVNS has also partnered with the local Esports organization E-Sports Alliance, for the upcoming Domination Dota 2 League, happening this July in SM Seaside City, Cebu.
