SEA continues to be the bane of OG as they fall to Faceless 2-1
The 4-time major champion is eliminated by a SEA team in a premiere tournament…again.
Teams from SEA region continue to plague the play of the 4-time major Champion OG as they fall victim to a SEA team once again, this time through the form of team Faceless in the Manila Masters.
Game 1 saw OG delivering an action-packed victory with early rotations from JerAx‘s Pudge killing Faceless‘s cores as the Europeans pile up on the advantage with their surprise Arc Warden pick for n0tail which Faceless has struggled to deal with all game. Even though iceiceice with the Clockwerk manages to land good Hook shoots to initiate, he also almost always falls victim to the Pudge hook, with OG quickly turning the fight around. The match continued to go back and forth albeit leaning towards OG‘s favor nearly all the time, ultimately leading to Faceless demise on Game 1.
With a 0-1 deficit, Faceless hoped to bounce back picking the Anti-Mage for Black^, backed by iceiceice‘s Night Stalker and Xy-‘s Weaver whereas OG went for a split push draft centered around n0tail‘s Lycan with a teamfight combo of S4‘s Dark Seer and JerAx Sand King. Faceless protective envelope around Black^ helped the carry player secure his core items quickly, helping Faceless pile up on the lead and tying the series 1-1.
Game 3 looked to be a back and forth engagement if not for the tanky lineup of Faceless centered around iceiceice‘s Bristleback with Black^ on the Naga Siren. OG still went for the teamfight lineup with AoE heroes, n0tail‘s Faceless Void and Ana‘s Mirana. Although OG looked to take the lead during the mid-game with rotations using Smoke of Deceit and Moonlight Shadow, Faceless secured their first big advantage after securing Roshan and starting the uphill siege. With OG too focused on taking out the Bristleback, the fights get extended to the point where Faceless was getting too many return kills, and with securing an other Aegis, together with the Octarine Cores, Faceless finally runs down OG for a 2-1 win and moving on to the Loser’s Bracket semi-finals.
