Hail Britannia!

Looks like Esports in the Olympics will soon be a reality as a move from the British Esports Association hopes to bring competitive games into the world’s biggest athletic meet as they plan to hold meetings with the International Olympic Committee regarding the matter.

Possibly inspired by Alisports and the Olympic Council of Asia for the upcoming Asian Games 2018 and 2020, both of which will include Esports titles, Chester King, founder of the British Esports Association, is said to be holding talks with IOC in the coming weeks, in order to sway the committee, which was previously torn with the idea of holding video game competitions in the Olympics, to finally put Esports alongside other Sporting Events in the Olympics.

The British Esports Association was founded back in June 2016, and is the United Kingdom’s own national commission for building and developing their own Esports Infrastructure, the association has recognized popular titles, Dota 2, CS:GO, and League of Legends alongside other competitive gaming titles such as Battlefield 1, World of Tanks and Clash Royale as their recognized Esports games, and has since coordinated with both UK’s grassroots Esports community and big event organizers, together with notable players and Esports veterans within the United Kingdom.
