GALAX’s GeForce GTX 1070 Katana is the world’s first Single-Slot GeForce 1070 Graphics Card
Thin, lightweight, although you may have “heat issues” since it’s only has a single fan.
Not everyone may be familiar with GALAX, especially since their venture in the gaming hardware field, particularly with GPUs, only include 700, 900 and 10-series NVIDIA GPUs, but that doesn’t stop them from their own brand of innovation which now gave birth to the world’s only single-slot GeForce GTX 1070 video card.
Nicknamed “Katana”, GALAX’s new single-slot GeForce GTX 1070 GPU is 16mm thinner than most 1070 GPU iterations from other brands, and utilizes what GALAX describes as their RazorX technique, employing numerous copper fins and a modified vapor chamber to ensure proper heat dissipation even when the components are built tightly together. Ensuring less to zero heat problems is a big plus to the GALAX GeForce GTX 1070 Katana since the card itself employs faster clock speeds than NVIDIA’s reference build, with the clocked at 1518 Mhz, and the boosted speeds reaching 1708 Mhz.
Sadly though, even with the factory overclocked speeds, there is no official word of the GALAX GeForce GTX 1070 Katana will support liquid cooling for enthusiast gamers, although it seems that GALAX themselves are pretty confident that the built in cooling tech would be enough to assess any potential thermal issues once the GPU hits 1708 Mhz.
