Code Vein is the name of Bandai Namco’s new game
The team behind Gods Eater has been silently working on Bandai Namco’s new IP it seems.
Late last week, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed a teaser trailer for their new project with the tagline “Prepare to Dine” and amidst all the speculation such as if the game will be based or a probable spin-off of the Dark Souls series, we thought, “we’ll get more news about at E3”, which turns out to be also speculation as Bandai Namco would not be waiting for one of the biggest annual gaming events to give us a taste of what they have been cooking up.
Now revealed to be titled “Code Vein”, more details about the upcoming game is brought to us by Famitsu, as they speak with the head honchos of the game’s development, people that have once worked in the Gods Eater series of games, and has shared key information regarding Bandai Namco’s new IP.
According to the Japanese blog Hachima Kikuo, which shared bits of information from Famitsu’s interview, Code Vein is described as a “dungeon exploration action RPG” with the hardcore elements that many are familiar with from the Dark Souls series, and will have gamers play as a “vampire” that will dine in on monsters, hence the tagline “Prepare to Dine”.
Apart from the hard gameplay, one of the main features of Code Vein is its “Buddy System”, wherein players will have an AI companion, that serves as your assistant during combat but can also act independently for the reason being that the game’s difficulty is set at a point wherein the player might not complete the game or survive without the AI companion.
The game is also developed using the Unreal 4 Engine and is assumed to be coming for the PlayStation 4, as the development heads mentioned a console release, although other platforms such as the PC and the new Nintendo Switch is also a likely possibility.
An official reveal for Code Vein is being scheduled by Bandai Namco Entertainment this coming April 20, 2017, with the first official trailer to arrive sometime this coming May, and a worldwide release is being aimed sometime next year.
