Valve teams up with PGL for the Krakow CS:GO Major

Valve and PGL getting really, really friendly now.

The continued success of PGL and Valve’s partnership of the ongoing Dota 2 Majors tournament series which started during the Manila Major last year will look to expand towards Valve’s other popular competitive game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as the 2 names team up for the upcoming CS:GO Major in Krakow, Poland.

Unveiled earlier this week, the Krakow Major will pit together 16 teams, 8 of which belonging to the top 8 finalists of the ELEAGUE Major 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia that concluded just this January, which includes teams, AstralisVirtus.proFnaticSK GamingNatus VincereGambit EsportsNorth, and Faze Clan.

7 of the teams that finished from 9th to 16th place in the  ELEAGUE Atlanta Major 2017 will be seeded towards the main qualifier event of the PGL Krakow Major where they will be joined by the other 8 winners of the regional minor qualifier tournaments for Asia, CIS, Europe, and the Americas, and 1 more team that will be revealed soon.

The regional qualifier events will kick off this coming June 1, starting with the Asia Minor, and will be followed by the Americas and CIS on June 8, with Europe to have their qualifier event on June 15. Winners of the qualifier events will then join teams, GODSENT, Team Liquid, G2 Esports, mouseports, FlipSid3 Tactics, Hellraisers, and Optic Gaming plus one more team for the LAN qualifier event running from June 29 to July 2, with the upper half to ultimately join the rest of the automatically seeded teams for the main event which will take place on July 16 to 23.

PGL Krakow Major 2017 Schedule Breakdown

  • Asia Regional Minor Championship – June 1 – 4, 2017
  • CIS Regional Minor Championship – June 8 – 11, 2017
  • Americas Regional Minor Championship – June 8 – 11, 2017
  • Europe Regional Minor Championship  – June 15 – 18 ,2017

Note: Each region will award 2 qualifier slots for the main qualifier event.

  • Major Qualifier Event – June 29 – July 2, 2017
  • Main Event Groupstage – July 16 – 19, 2017
  • Main Event Playoffs – July 21 – 23, 2017

The PGL Krakow Major will feature a total prize pool of USD 1 Million and will have its main event take place in the 15 thousand seater Tauron Arena, Krakow Poland.
