Ubisoft confirm plans of an Assassin’s Creed TV series
Well, that’s one way of creating something out of Assassin’s Creed.
Ubisoft may have already toned down with the annual releases of their Assassin’s Creed games but that doesn’t mean that they’re slowing down on creating whatever they can from the franchise as, after a live action movie adaptation, they are planning to work on a TV series.
The plan was hinted or rather confirmed, earlier this week by Aymar Azaizia, Head of Content for Assassin’s Creed, in a Reddit AMA where a fan asks if he can tell more info regarding the Assassin’s Creed TV series to which Azaizia responds:
It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you wander if it’s on our plan… YES
While of course, Azaizia would not be able to divulge more information regarding the planned Assassin’s Creed TV adaptation, he did confirm that Ubisoft is planning on creating it with the talks already ongoing for potential partners, one of them rumored to be Netflix.
But will it be animated? CGI? Live Action? Azaizia or even Ubisoft might not be able to confirm it yet, considering the mixed reception of the live-action movie adaptation which starred Michael Fassbender, although many fans are hoping that it is going to be a live-action series, much like the numerous live-action adaptations of iconic comic book and graphic novel franchises available on Cable TV and online content streaming platforms, which have been gaining popularity lately, whether in mainstream or in cult.
With the next installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, rumored to be Assassin’s Creed Empire and set in Egypt, is still up in the air, perhaps it is a bit of a good news that Ubisoft is taking the franchise into newer directions other than the video games, and hopefully this time, they pull it off and deliver a great series.
