Also, China has started their Qualifier rounds apparently.

Just when we thought that we have already completed the list of the invited teams to the Manila Masters, the organizers deliver a sudden surprise as the controversial team, Secret gets the 4th direct invite slot.

The news came as an obvious shock to many fans considering how Team Secret has been on and off after the post-Shanghai Major fiasco, and as to how the squad led by veteran captain Clement “Puppey” Ivanov got an invite over other high ranking teams such as Team Liquid and even Virtus.pro. Nevertheless, Team Secret will presumably complete the roster of 4 Directly Invited teams, unless we get another surprise announcement in the coming days and will be heading to Manila again for the Manila Masters this coming May.

Speaking of the participants, the Chinese Qualifiers for the Manila Masters has silently begun with 8 teams currently fighting for 1 of the 3 remaining slots as 1 will already be going to the Filipino team that will win the Philippine Qualifier. Teams Invictus Gaming.Vitality, LGD Gaming, CDEC, ViCi Gaming.J, ViCi Gaming, Wings Gaming, Invictus Gaming, and LGD Forever Young will be competing until March 22, 2017, in a Double Elimination tournament to determine who will join Newbee in representing the Chinese region in the Manila Masters.

Final 2 Qualifier Slots?

Given that 4 teams are now Directly Invited, and 2 regions (or countries) have taken up 2 of the 4 remaining slots, we assume that the remaining 2 will be going to South East Asia and the West with a possible combined qualifier tournament for The Americas, Europe, and CIS regions.  It can be noted that the upcoming Kiev Majors has separated both America and Europe into 2 regions each for its qualifier events namely North and South for the Americas and the CIS region having separated from the rest of the whole European region. Dropping an American region qualifier and granting teams from the region to participate in the Europe qualifiers is a high possibility considering the low turnout of  North American teams that have participated in the most recent Valve Major Dota 2 Championship events.

The Manila Masters is the 3rd prestige pro Dota 2 tournament that is hosted in the Philippines and will take place this coming May 26-28, 2017, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila.
