Dota2 legend Daryl “iceiceice” Koh and his team, Team Faceless, is the first team to qualify for the Kiev Major which will take place in National Palace of Arts in Kiev, Ukraine from April 27th to 30th.

The Singapore-based squad beat the Filipino team, Mineski, in the winner’s finals of the Kiev Major SEA regional qualifiers and are now guaranteed at least a top 2 finish in the qualifier and have, thus, mathematically qualified for the Major.

Team Faceless finished 2nd in the round robin group stage of the qualifier while only dropping games to the Filipino dream team, TnC Pro Team, and formerly Warriors Gaming.Unity, Team Bazaar in the final day of the group stage of the competition. They quickly got back on their feet, though, as the very next day, they defeated TnC in their first matchup of the qualifiers playoff stage.

Although, saying that their road to Kiev has been easy would be a flat out lie as Team Faceless, had some very little details not have gone their way, wouldn’t even be close to where they are now.

In their first game against TnC, Faceless nearly threw the game away. TnC, defending their ancient against Mega Creeps, held on to the game for around 15 minutes after their last barracks fell as Faceless kept failing to find ways to successfully destroy the ancient. Eventually, though, TnC’s efforts would come to waste as they finally fell to Faceless 2-1.

The next series against Mineski was no walk in the park either as they dropped their first game to a very patient Mineski squad. The second game was a completely different story as Faceless outright dominated from start to finish. It was only in the third game where there was an overwhelming sense that Mineski might actually be the first team to qualify as they decimated Faceless in the early game. Though, due to some questionable decision making from Mineski’s Jay “baski ft^mekasi” Qui, Faceless eventually found their footing and won the game.

If there was any doubt that Team Faceless would qualify for the major, then, I would say that they were greatly exaggerated and misguided. Team Faceless has been on top of the SEA region for a while now and it would be a great shock if they didn’t qualify.
