Now that the Switch sales are great, Nintendo reveals that they are working on multiple new IPs for the hybrid handheld
After decades of sequels and spin-offs based on their beloved IP, Mario, Nintendo now feels compelled to create something new presumably in terms of a video game franchise now that the Nintendo Switch lands big on the video game market.
According to Nintendo Everything, this snippet of information comes from an interview with Nintendo’s General Manager of Entertainment Planning & Development, Shinya Takahashi, on a Japanese publication, where he states that Nintendo is preparing one new IP after another, with a huge focus on utilizing the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-cons.
This new reveal could mean big things for Nintendo this coming E3 2017, and could potentially either complement or have no effect at all on the Switch’s current market impact, one that Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America, describes as the device “setting new sales records every day“.
Although Nintendo isn’t at all just Zelda and Mario and they do surprisingly unveil new IPs from time to time, hearing them preparing, not just one, but multiple new IPs sure is music to the ears of its fans and is definitely something to look forward to at this June’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.
