Lunatic-Hai ends Meta Athena’s 21 match win streak securing the Grand Finals slot in APEX Season 2
Meta Athena’s winning streak has finally come to an end.
Meta Athena’s royal road dream has been snapped by team Lunatic-Hai in the best of five series of APEX Season 2. Both teams have played different play styles, Meta Athena with their creativity with Mei’s wall and Lunatic-Hai‘s smart ultimate management.
The first two maps went to Lunatic-Hai as they plow through the defenses of Meta Athena in Nepal and Eichenwalde, with one map away from grand finals scoring 2-0, their dreams of sweeping Meta Athena were thwarted though as Meta Athena pulled themselves back, securing wins on Hanamura and Dorado. Meta Athena’s solid defense on the last point on Hanamura secured their hope for the tournament, while on Dorado, their creative use of Mei wall boost caught Lunatic-Hai off guard, proving that the boost is too much for the South Koreans.
Hollywood was the final map of the semi-finals series. With Athena’s weak attack on Point A and a shaky attack on streets phase, they gave Lunatic-Hai quite the advantage resulting for a spot in the grand finals.
Meta Athena will play against LW Blue on March 31 to decide the third placer. Lunatic-Hai versus RunAway will determine the Overwatch APEX season two champions on April 8.
