“Hero’s Duty” is a mobile Chinese Overwatch clone featuring Immortan Joe and Sephiroth
Forget Overwatch, this is GOTY 2017 material right here.
China has been known to blatantly copy products due to their supposed lax when it comes to Copyright and IP related laws, especially if the originals are made outside of Chinese borders, a few of these copies include popular games that are, well, “shamelessly ripped-off” as many would describe them with the majority being MOBAs and just recently, Blizzard’s hit FPS Overwatch.
While an attempt to clone Overwatch has been made sometime last year, a new project by developer Dream of Dragon Games takes the cake so far when it comes to the most ludicrous attempts at copying the popular game title. How ludicrous is it you say? Well for starters, the game is going to be released on the mobile platform, Android, and iOS, and copies the near-exact gameplay of Overwatch in 5-v-5 mode, but perhaps what really brings out its absurdity is how it “tweaks” Overwatch’s characters, particularly how they look which include, and we’re not kidding here, Genji (who throws shurikens but has an ability like McRee’s, or perhaps he is McRee) turned into a Sephiroth looking dude, Lucio becoming Hatsune Miku and Mad Max’s Immortan Joe being Roadhog.
Other interesting character tweaks include Reinhardt wielding a sword, Winston turning into a panda, D.Va gender bent into a young boy, Pharah shooting lasers and, wait, hold-up, a NERDY BIKINI CLAD TRACER.
The game is supposedly called “Hero’s Duty”, yeah that game from Wreck-It-Ralph, and is currently under development for the official website, YX.DodJoy.com, hasn’t put up any download links yet, but only a form where you could sign-up using a phone number to participate in the beta test.
Ludicrous as it seems, we gotta say, we can’t wait till the game gets released so we can play the heck out of it for the lulz.
