Led by veteran Kuroky, the multinational European squad wins their 2nd major title post-TI6.

The StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3, which was held at the Shanghai Gymnastics Center in Shanghai, China, crowns a new champion through the form of Team Liquid Dota 2, the Dota 2 team division of the long established Team Liquid organization after winning 3-1 to China’s very own ViCi Gaming J in their Best of 5 finals series.

Led by the long-time veteran Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi, Liquid is composed of 3 of the highest ranking players in the game, each to have reached over 9000 MMR or Match Making Ranked points, namely Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen, Maroun “GH” Merhej and the 2-time Dota 2 major winner Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi who became famous for being the first player to reach 9000 MMR points and revered for his flashy playstyle.

Their opponent, on the other hand, ViCi Gaming J, which was formed via the agreement between the ViCi Gaming organization and NBA star Jeremy Lin, is composed of 3 veterans, namely ‘the king’ Bai “rOtk” Fan, and famed support duo Xu “fy” Linsen and Lu “Fenrir” Chao.

The best of 5 series saw ViCi Gaming J securing game #1 after a highly aggressive approach by utilizing heroes such as Lifestealer and Centaur Warruner, whereas support player fy putting up a show with his hero, the spell-stealing Rubick.

Coming off game #2 with a 1 win deficit, Liquid bounces back with an aggressive approach of their own, albeit more centered on objectives with heroes Invoker and Enigma. Games #3 and #4, on the other hand, showed a more dominant Team Liquid, with almost double the gap in the kill scores for each 2 games as they went on to secure the whole series 3-1.

Team Liquid will be taking home a share of USD 135,000 from the USD 300,000 total prize pool, and, with their other major tournament win at Dreamleague, is now assumed to secure a direct invite for the next Valve sponsored event, the Kiev Major.
