MoonduckTV announces Elimination Mode 3!
Elimination Mode is back and it’s bigger than ever!
MoonduckTV, the Dota 2 studio that is known for their wacky antics in broadcasts, in collaboration with deep insights of the game, has just announced the third iteration of one of their tournaments, the Elimination Mode.
Elimination Mode is the mode of Dota 2, usually played in a best of three series, where teams are forced to think about the hero compositions of the game at hand, but also the games to follow as each hero they pick or ban will also be banned for the remaining games of the series. This mode forces teams to play heroes that they wouldn’t usually play in normal competitive play.
On top of that, the community will also get to ban 30 heroes through an online poll in the MoonduckTV website. The community bans have made for a very entertaining show in the last Elimination draft as at different days, the community got together to decide to ban all the heroes that fall into a certain category. At one point, they decided to ban as many support heroes as possible, forcing the competing teams to use unorthodox support heroes in their lineup.
The competing teams from the North American side will consist of Team Freedom, CompLexity, the new PPD team WanteD, and the Abed stack Team Onyx. Meanwhile, on the European side of the bracket, we will see Ad Finem, OG, NiP, and former TI Champs The Alliance.
Elimination Mode 3.0 will be using a double elimination tournament setup and will have a $25,000 prize pool. The tournament will kick off starting this Feb 11, 2017, and will run until Feb 17, 2017.
