Gaben confirms that Valve is making 3 full-fledged VR titles
Meanwhile, on other news, Scientists are baffled as to how Valve is now able to count to 3.
Valve and the Number 3 jokes may now be again alive as the game development company’s big man, Gabe Newell, confirms that they are working on 3 full Virtual Reality titles.
Stated in a roundtable talk with numerous publications such as Eurogamer, Gaben says that Valve is building “three full games” and not just experiments or experiences such as The Lab, Portal Stories or even Dota 2’s VR mode for spectating games, Gaben then further adds that the games will be built using both Source 2 and Unity game engines.
Gaben also states that while Valve has already ported some of their classic titles such as Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 into VR, the man himself found it lacking, stating that “there was absolutely nothing compelling about it“. As people are talking more into creating VR hardware rather than software, Gaben says that Valve is now more into designing both hardware and software at the same time and even cites Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto by describing him as a man who has “the ability to think about what the input device is and design a system while he designs games“, a concept that Gaben and Valve seems to be following right now with their confirmation of developing full VR games.
As there are no other available information yet as to what Valve might be cooking up with their recently confirmed VR project, and we are all expecting more news in the coming months and perhaps even a major reveal at E3 later this year.
