Azubu acquires Hitbox TV
A merger that would surpass Twitch?
Europe based video game livestreaming platform Hitbox.tv has just announced that they have already been acquired by its fellow video game livestreaming and broadcast company Azubu as both companies plan to launch a new platform that will optimize “mobile user experience and monetization technologies“.
Revealed by Hitbox through a blogspot earlier this week, the now Azubu-acquired platform describes it as a new beginning citing that the acquisition will help them continue to “create great technology for gamers and esports fans“.
Azubu, which was founded a year before Hitbox.tv, has had a very rough fight for dominance in the video game broadcasting field against Twitch.tv and has just recently secured USD 59 million in funding back in December to keep itself running. Hitbox.tv on the other hand was able to gain solid ground in the livestreaming field, able to secure a 2-year broadcast deal with ESL, Wargaming and Dreamhack.
Azubu and Hitbox’s new collaboration platform is planned to launch sometime early 2017.
