OG Dota 2 wins their 3rd Dota 2 Major Championship
The Green Dream is real!
Multinational Dota 2 powerhouse team OG Dota 2 achieves another monumental feat in professional gaming as they become the first team to win 3 Dota 2 Major championship titles. In professional Dota 2, the Majors tournament series are the official Valve sponsored tournaments that serve great importance especially if you’re eyeing for the biggest pro gaming spectacle that is the The International Dota 2 Championships, an annual event that pays off tens of millions of dollars, with its 6th iteration alone having over USD 20 Million in prize pool.
OG Dota 2 first made its mark after winning Valve’s first ever Major in Frankfurt last Nov 2015, and winning their second in Manila just this June, after winning in Boston, the team will be taking home USD 1 Million in prizes and will pretty much ensure a direct invite to Valve’s next Major which will happen in Kiev, Ukraine this coming April 2017.
On the other hand, Greek team Ad Finem will end their amazing Cinderella story in the Boston Major after falling to OG 3-1 in the finals, considered as the underdogs by most and a dark horse by some, Ad Finem‘s 2nd place finish is pivotal to the careers of its players as it is the team’s first time to attend a Valve tournament. While they may have lost the finals, Ad Finem was able to capture the hearts of many fans for the duration of the Boston Major, defeating top teams such as Newbee, LGD Forever Young and Digital Chaos, and even their Game 3 victory against OG Dota 2 in the finals, which will arguably go down as one of the best matches in the history of pro Dota 2.
