Former League of Legends and Mass Effect devs team up for upcoming online coop RPG Dauntless
The independent project is going free to play on the PC next year!
Former Riot Games developers Jesse Houston, Sean Bender and Robin Mayne formally announce their new project under the Phoenix Labs brand which they founded back in 2014, called Dauntless, a coop, online action RPG which lets players battle monsters called Behemoths across fantasy floating land masses called the Shattered Isles.
Based on the trailer, the game quickly reminds you of games such as Monster Hunter and Evolve as a group of 4 characters, which are called Slayers in the game, use fantasy weapons to take on a massive behemoth. The game is developed together with people that were formerly part of other mainstream titles such as Mass Effect and, in addition to the Monster Hunter franchise, Jesse Houston also adds that part of the game’s inspiration comes from titles such as World of Warcraft and Dark Souls, both of which feature giant monsters as enemies.
Dauntless is slated to become a Free-to-Play title for the PC and will arrive sometime this 2017, a Beta signup is also ongoing and interested players can head on to the official Dauntless Beta Signup page for a chance to be part of the early access.
