Filipino Team Execration becomes victim of Visa Issue, will not be attending Boston Major
Yet another sad day for Filipino Dota 2 fans as another local pro team will have to forfeit their international venture.
The Cavite-based squad Execration, the first Filipino team to receive a direct invite to Valve’s Dota 2 Majors tournament series, will be forced to forfeit their Boston Majors venture following yet another Visa issue. According to a Facebook post by Execration‘s team manager, Arvin Risos, the players will not be able to secure their Visas in time following a delay in Valve’s filing of a USCIS petition.
In effect, Chinese team LGD will be taking over Execration‘s slot in the Boston Major when asked as to what was the basis of this decision by Valve, known Dota 2 content creator Wykrhm Reddy explains that Valve has chosen among the 3rd placers of the Boston Major qualifying tournaments and found out that LGD had Visas at the ready to fly to the US.
No More Second Chances?
As this is not the first time a Filipino team is plagued by Visa issues, many fans are looking forward to seek assistance from local government bodies, such as Hon. Sen. Bam Aquino, who has once helped other players in arranging documents for international travel such as Visas, in hopes to, once again, help expedite the process, sadly however, Valve’s decision in replacing Execration with LGD seems to be final.
We are still awaiting any official statement from Valve regarding this issue.
The Boston Major 2016 is a prestige Dota 2 tournament happening this Dec 3 to 10, 2016 with them main event to start at Dec 7 in Wang Theater, Boston MA.
