Or at least part of it.

If ever you’re not familiar of Jose Rizal, or if you like the full name version José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, he is the Philippines’ main National Hero, best known for his works that sparked many revolutionary movements during the Spanish colonial period. One of Rizal’s works include Noli Me Tangere, roughly translates to “touch me not”, which talks about the inequity of the ruling Spaniard class during the colonial period and as well as other social and political issues present at that time.

Today, a group of multimedia students who call themselves “The Bangkeros” (could be referring to the term Boatmen) aim to bring this story to life through a PC Visual Novel title called The Social Cancer. The game features an “explore and collect” gameplay together with your common character interaction present in most visual novels, and stars characters such as Crisostomo Ibarra, Maria Clara and Father Damaso although it is pretty short on the story as it only covers the first 4 chapters of Noli Me Tangere.

Still you can laud the game for its visuals and for staying true to the storyline albeit there may be not much to say about it at this point. The Social Cancer is free to play for the PC and you can download the client through its official download page.
