And this year Esports Industry Award goes to…

Electronic Sports has long been a booming industry for the past 5 or so years with the number of players, fans and viewers growing exponentially each year and with revenue projections expected to reach more than USD 490 Million by the end of 2016. This year, as a celebration for this growing field, New Bay Media, together with NOW TV is hosting the Esports Industry Awards which features nominees from different categories such as video game titles, developers, publishers, streamers, journalists, broadcasters and other personalities as to give recognition to their continuous effort and talent, in any way, in the realm of professional competitive gaming.

While headline titles such as Valve’s Dota 2, and Riot Games’ League of Legends obviously make the cut, new players such as Blizzard’s Overwatch, Super Evil Megacorp’s Vainglory, and Psyonix’ Rocket League make it to the final list of nominees for this year’s New Esports Game title.

Overwatch was Blizzard’s (almost) overnight success, earning them USD 269 Million in revenues in just its first month alone and going as far as toppling League of Legends as the preferred game in South Korea, which has always been LoL territory, with a 30% playerbase share in contrast to League’s 28%.

The Esports Industry Awards will be held this November 21, 2016 in The Brewery in London, England, with the public voting for the finalist already ongoing. A public voting page is now available for fans to visit to check out and as well as to vote for their choice nominees on 17 different global categories.
