TI6 Main Event – TNC, Fnatic make it to top 8, EG & Wings will face each other in Upper Bracket Finals
All according to keikaku. (hint: keikaku means plan in Japanese)
2016 will definitely be the year of South East Asian Dota 2 as not just 1 but 3 teams from the SEA region will secure themselves a top 8 finish after last night’s matches.
The Malaysian Fnatic who has greatly recovered after a groupstage slump managed to eliminate the TI3 Champions Alliance in a 2-0 sweep in the Lower Bracket. The team who was set to face the infamous Rat Push from Alliance has showcased amazing patience in game 1, and a comeback story in game 2, being able to play around Alliance‘s love for quick ganks that convert into objectives. DJ will once again find himself in the spotlight after a magnificent game 1 performance on the Shadow Demon and the Sacred Arrow that landed on S4 during Allliance‘s attempt at a high lane high ground which helped Fnatic turn the game around in their favor and ultimately setting up a 2-0 sweep.
China will be one team short again this TI as Team Liquid has finally took down their famed nemesis Newbee in a 2-1 victory at the Main Event’s Lower Bracket. Sparking a rivalry that started at the Manila Major, Kuroky and his squad uttered nothing but dominance in their Best of 3 series but not after giving Newbee a 1 game advantage after losing game 1.
Wings Gaming on the other hand will look to break their alternating curse of winning then failing badly in prestige tournaments as they secure a top 3 finish in TI6 after defeating MVP Phoenix. Both teams that have known to run hyper aggressive strats, gave the fans a highly entertaining matchup, featuring picks such as, the dual tempo control core of Faith’s Puck and bLink’s Queen of Pain on game 1 and the Dubu Spiritbreaker-QO Phantom Assassin combination on game 2.
Lastly on the Upper Bracket, defending champions, Evil Geniuses will be one step closer to a title defense at TI6 as they defeat EHOME 2-0 in the semifinals. In contrast to there pre-TI performances after the sudden shuffle, EG is back to their previous form, finally securing comfort picks for their cores, an their characteristic even farm spread on their cores and high teamfight control gameplay.
Evil Geniuses will be facing Wings Gaming later tonight for the Upper Bracket Finals, both already securing a top 3 finish. Both EHOME and MVP Phoenix on the other hand will be waiting for their next opponents as the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals, with MVP Phoenix awaiting the winner of TNC Pro Team Dota 2 vs Digital Chaos, while EHOME expecting to match up with the winner between Fnatic and Team Liquid.
