SEGA and Feral Interactive to bring Rome:Total War to the iPad
Command the Roman army and win large scale battles right at the comfort of your iPad.
Creative Assembly’s hit large scale Real Time Strategy title Rome: Total War will be receiving its mobile port, albeit only for the iPad, later this year.
The third title in the Total War series, the game’s timeline centers on the era of Roman rule and employs the signature large scale real time tactical battle in which players control hordes of different units, mostly reaching to thousands in numbers. Other RTS mechanics such as resource management is also present in the game, which centers largely in controlling cities and provinces together with elements such as setting taxes, maintaining factions, and building alliances and defeating rebellions.
Rome: Total War also features actual historical battles as part of its gameplay such as the Battle of Asculum from 279 BCE, and the Siege of Sparta from 272 BCE. The game is well received by both fans and critics and still remains as one of the most iconic titles from the Total Wars series.
Just this week, Creative Assembly, has announced that they are working with Feral Interactive, the studio that handled Rome: Total Wars’ Mac OS X release, and game publisher SEGA to bring Rome: Total Wars to the Apple iPad.
Planned to bring the same experience as its PC and Mac OS X counterpart, Creative Assembly, Feral, and SEGA are wall working together for an uncompromised release that will bring all, if not most of the game’s iconic features. Rob Bartholomew, Brand Director of Creative Assembly states that they (Creative) are “thrilled to work closely with Feral on the iPad release and excited that players will get to experience ROME: Total War on a whole new platform for the first time“.
Rome: Total War’s iPad version will be playable on first generation iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 models, and will also bring in the PC and Mac version’s expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, at a later date after the base game is out on its new platform.
The iPad port for Rome: Total War is planned for release this coming Autumn 2016.
