Finally, more information regarding the Alibaba backed, multi-title Esports event.

The World Electronic Sports Games or WESG (not to be confused by World Esports Games or WEG) made a lot of fuss as one of the largest funded multi-title Esports event, backed by Chinese E-Commerce giant Alibaba, with an aggregated prize pool of USD 3.7 Million. Featuring 4 different Esports disciplines, not much has been  revealed during the event’s initial announcement back in May 2016, except maybe for its main event location which will be in Shanghai, China.

With Alibaba, the company behind WESG, having announced a USD 150 Million partnership deal with the International Esports Federation in order to increase WESG’s reach and promotions, the event will  be composed of 8 different regions,  6 of which are combined making it 4 different qualifier events for each disciplines. In addition to the qualifier stages, each game title will also feature a total of 24 qualified teams each that will be competing in Shanghai, China for the main event. Each qualifier region will also feature its own prize pool which will be awarded from 1st to 8th place, both Dota 2 and CS:GO will have a total Regional Qualifier prize pool of CNY 500,00 while StarCraft II and Hearthstone will have a regional prize pool of  CNY 182,000.
