A new lineup so good that it might want you to get one for yourself.

August is celebration month for MSI as the Computer hardware and peripherals manufacturer celebrates its 30th year after its inception back in 1986. Receiving multiple awards for producing top of the line computer products ranging from Motherboards, Graphic Processing Units and Notebooks, Micro Star International continues to churn out new additions to their product line in aims of both catching up and also becoming the first in the continuously changing trends in PC hardware.

Just this week, together with their 30th Anniversary Celebration, MSI reveals their new and updated lineup of Virtual Reality ready GT, GS, and GE Gaming notebooks powered by NVIDIA’s newest 10-series graphic processing units, each packed with numerous gaming centered features and new add-ons. The company’s newest lineup was the result of their collaboration with consumer electronics manufacturing giant HTC, who has also produced the VR headset HTC Vive together with Valve, in the goal of producing machines suited for the VR market.

Software Add-ons

Nahimic 2 Audio Control

The new VR ready Gaming notebook line comes with the Nahimic 2 audio control software specifically designed for optimal listening experiences, whether on Multimedia or on Gaming. In addition to common settings for differing media audio, Nahimic 2 also comes with a pre-built soundboard which players and content creators can use during their video game livestreams or audio podcasts, but perhaps the most interesting part of the Nahimic 2 audio software is what it calls the Sound Tracker which pinpoints audio sources from in-game environments and reveals them to the user via customizable overlays.

SteelSeries Engine

For those who are not entirely familiar, the SteelSeries Engine is MSI’s very own input customization software which players can use to set-up their game and/or application macros such as Fighting Game combos, or when you want to easily skills when playing Invoker on Dota 2.

Game Sense

Game Sense is perhaps one of the more interesting features in Software add-ons for MSI’s VR ready lineup. Synchronized with in-game events such as when you’re running low on HP or almost out of bullets, Game Sense transforms these instances into pseudo-alarms through the form of Keyboard illumination. As of the moment though, Game Sense is only limited to Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Minecraft with more game to be hopefully added in the near future.

Dragon Center

The Dragon Center is a one stop setup shop for all your machine needs. Bringing multiple settings and customization options, the Dragon Center features ranges from prepping up your machine for VR use, monitoring system performance, adjusting your system output and power usage, and even boosting up file transmission.

Xsplit Gamecaster

With content creators being part of its target market, and with more and more people getting hooked into livestreaming, each VR ready model will come with a free licence for Xsplit’s Gamecaster module. A bit different from the Broadcaster, the Gamecaster acts as a pseudo-overlay with easy to adjust controls for livestreaming, with minimal screen clutter when doing broadcasts, albeit, some users may find it more toned down when compared to the XSplit Broadcaster.
