Dota 2’s new comic featuring Windranger and Anti Mage suggests that we may be having another new hero right after Monkey King.

Dota 2 may have just officially be out of its “Beta Phase” after the announcement of adding the last hero in the game’s 112 hero pool, Underlord, and introducing its first ever non-Defense of the Ancients hero, Sun Wukong the Monkey King.

However, it would seem like the new hero hype train will see no breaks as the recent Dota 2 comic, A Dark Purpose, which featured Anti Mage and Windranger suggests that a new Necromancer themed hero is already approaching the horizon.

Dota 2 Necromancer

While others may disregard this as just an entertainment piece from Valve, comic reveals of new heroes and cosmetics are pretty common from them such as the Winter Wyvern comic during the New Bloom Festival. Perhaps, the most intriguing factor in this reveal, if in case it truly is a new hero concept, is how the Chinese audience, which has always had a major role in Dota 2’s playbase and competitive scene, will receive the Necromancer theme considering the China’s¬†Censorship rules.

Dota 2 was initially introduced with 24 heroes during its Alpha Release and has grown to porting all the original heroes from Defense of the Ancients with the last being Underlord which was revealed back in TI6. A new original Dota 2 hero is also set to arrive in the game, Sun Wukong the Monkey King, together with a new in-game event which will arrive sometime in the last quarter of this year.
