StarCraft gets its own WoW-like RPG with StarCraft Universe.
From a daring project, now a Blizzard-approved map mod, ladies and gentlement, meet World of StarCraft.
5 years in the making, and a couple of potential lawsuits, Upheaval Arts, current developer of a map mod that will hopefully breathe new life into StarCraft II, has finally revealed StarCraft Universe, an RPG-esque set within the very universe of StarCraft.
Featuring a total of 8 different character classes, from 2 factions, the Terran and the Protoss, the game is now on Open Beta divided into 4 parts, 3 of which are tutorials, and 1 limited multiplayer prologue. The tutorials are categorized into different single player and multiplayer elements such as Basic Mechanics, Raids, and Ship controls.
Interested players can now test out StarCraft Universe via the official StarCraft II Client, and even the free Starter Pack, just be hovering over to the Arcade section, and searching the mod using the term “SC Universe”. StarCraft Universe is set for full launch next month, although sadly, it may never have it’s own stand-alone client, unless Blizzard would choose to cash in on the idea.
