Fnatic withdraws from Nanyang Championships due to Visa Issues
Looks like Visa issues for players are not just limited here in the Philippines as the Malaysian team Fnatic Dota withdraws from the Nanyang Championships despite being directly invited due to “unavoidable” visa issues.
According to a source, one of the main reasons for Fnatic Dota’s Visa woes was the Chinese embassy’s requirement of 2 passport pages to approve a Chinese Visa, whereas Fnatic Dota players, after numerous appearances in different global tournaments were left 1 page short for a Visa renewal.
Eric Khor, team manager, expresses but gratitude and dismay in his statement, and hopes that the fans can still enjoy the tournament even with the team’s absence.
“ I would like to thank the organizers for direct inviting us to Nanyang Championship. While we are very excited to go to the tournament, I am sad to announce that we will be unable to compete in it due to unavoidable visa issues. I would like to apologize to the organizers and our fans who are eager to see us compete. I hope everybody will still enjoy the tournament! “
Fnatic Dota will be replaced by LGD-Gaming in the Nanyang Championships, and the team will look to spend more of their time preparing for the The International Dota 2 Championships 2016.
